The Ysleta del Sur Pueblo (YDSP) Tigua Indian Employment and Training Program (TIETP) serves low income, unemployed or underemployed Native Americans in 122 counties in the western half of Texas. The program is operated by the Ysleta del Sur Pueblo, a federal recognized Indian tribe and is funded by the Department of Labor Workforce Investment Act Section 166 Indian and Native American Programs. Since its inception in 1979, the Ysleta del Sur Pueblo Tigua Indian Employment and Training Program has been at the forefront of creating job opportunities for Native Americans living throughout West Texas and on reservations within the region
The program is responsible for assisting Native American participants to prepare for and find high quality or career-based jobs. To meet its goals, the YDSP TIETP has established long-term relationships and collaborations with various job training providers such as: vocational and educational institutions, employer partners, regional workforce development boards and various job development or ancillary agencies.
To foster a self-sufficient and empowered tribal community well prepared to succeed in a modern world.
To promote and provide direct services aimed at creating economic independence through education, workforce development and by utilizing state-of-the-art lifelong learning strategies.
